Selena Gomez wraps up in poncho as she heads out for fresh air in LA after cancelling tour dates

She may have been forced to cancel a spate of imminent concert dates, but - for +Selena Gomez  - the show must go on. 

The former Disney star was spotted out in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday looking stylish-but-downbeat in a caramel-coloured poncho and black leather boots.

The singer, who is 21, stepped out from her home to get some fresh air after a difficult week in the world of show business.

Flanked by a security guard,the star could be seen looking sombre as she walked from her LA base.

Resting her hand on her chest and hiding behind a pair of over-sized sunglasses, the singer appeared somewhat unkempt with no make-up and her hair in a messy ponytail.

Just days earlier she had upset fans by cancelling a tour in Australia. 

The 21-year-old singer had been due to perform in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in February 2014, but pulled out earlier this week in order to 'spend some time on myself'.

Concert promoters LiveNation released a statement from Selena on Thursday where she explained: 'I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.'

The full statement read:  'My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.

'To my fans, I sincerely apologise and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me.' 

The news comes almost two weeks after Selena started showing signs of strain when she allegedly 'swore before storming off the stage mid-performance' at KIIS FM's Jingle Ball.

The Come And Get It singer is reported to have cut her show short at the Los Angeles holiday concert after experiencing some technical difficulties with the sound system.

Gomez is alleged to have abruptly exited the stage but not before allegedly unleashing some colourful language on her way out, to an audience largely filled with young people.
